「球形嚢陥凹と卵形嚢陥凹 spherical and elliptical recesses
前庭稜によって前庭腔は前後の陥凹に分けられる。前(下)方の陥凹は、小さく円形を呈し球形嚢陥凹といい、蝸牛の前庭階に通じる。球形嚢陥凹は球形嚢を入れている。後(上)方の陥凹は、大きく丸みをおび、卵形嚢陥凹といい、その壁に3骨半規管の5口をもち、また前庭稜の後(下)方には前庭水管外口がみられる。卵形嚢陥凹は卵形嚢を入れている。 」

On the medial wall of the vestibule, at the forepart, is a small circular depression, the recessus sphæricus, which is perforated, at its anterior and inferior part, by several minute holes (macula cribrosa media) for the passage of filaments of the acoustic nerve to the saccule; and behind this depression is an oblique ridge, the crista vestibuli, the anterior end of which is named the pyramid of the vestibule.
