　顎動脈とは

「 日本人体解剖学 」では

以下は外頚動脈の枝を簡単に表した図となる。

　以下は顎動脈の本幹の走行をごく簡単に表したものとなる。

　1 . 下顎頚の後下方で分岐する。

　　　（「Wikipedia」には「耳下腺内で分岐する」旨の解説が見られる。）

　2 . 下顎枝の内側に向かう。

　3 . 多くの枝を出しながら翼口蓋窩に向けて前上方に走る。

　以下は「 日本人体解剖学 」の顎動脈の走行の解説文となる。

「 下顎頚の後下側で浅側頭動脈から分かれると、強く迂回して下顎枝の内側に沿ってほとんど水平に前進し、翼口蓋窩まで進む。」

　また「 船戸和弥のホームページ 」では以下のように解説している。

「 下顎頚の後で起こり、咀嚼筋を通り、下顎枝の内側（側頭下窩）を前に走って翼口蓋窩に入る。」

　「 日本人体解剖学 」では、顎動脈を以下のように第1区の「下顎部」から第4区の「翼口蓋窩中の終枝」の4区に区分している。

「 船戸和弥のホームページ 」では区分の解説は見られない。また、「Wikipedia」では、以下の3部に区分している。

　1 . the first or mandibular portion ( or bony portion )

　2 . the second or pterygoid portion ( or muscular portion )

　3 . the third or pterygomaxillary portion

　「プロメテウス解剖学アトラス：頭部/頚部解剖」でも以下のように3部に区分している。

　1 . 下顎部

　2 . 翼突筋部

　3 . 翼口蓋部

　以下は「 Wikipedia 」の解説文となる。

「 The maxillary artery supplies deep structures of the face. It branches from the external carotid artery just deep to the neck of the mandible.

　The maxillary artery, the larger of the two terminal branches of the external carotid artery, arises behind the neck of the mandible, and is at first imbedded in the substance of the parotid gland ; it passes forward between the ramus of the mandible and the sphenomandibular ligament, and then runs, either superficial or deep to the lateral pterygoid muscle, to the pterygopalatine fossa.
It supplies the deep structures of the face, and may be divided into mandibular, pterygoid, and pterygopalatine [ disambiguation needed ] portions.
■ First portion ■
The first or mandibular portion (or bony portion) passes horizontally forward, between the neck of the mandible and the sphenomandibular ligament, where it lies parallel to and a little below the auriculotemporal nerve ; it crosses the inferior alveolar nerve, and runs along the lower border of the lateral pterygoid muscle.
Branches include:

• ・ Deep auricular artery （ 深耳介動脈 ）
• ・ Anterior tympanic artery （ 前鼓室動脈 ）
• ・ Middle meningeal artery （ 中硬膜動脈 ）
• ・ Inferior alveolar artery which gives off its mylohyoid branch just prior to entering the mandibular foramen （ 下歯槽動脈 ）
• ・ Accessory meningeal artery （ 副硬膜動脈 ）

■ Second portion ■
The second or pterygoid portion (or muscular portion) runs obliquely forward and upward under cover of the ramus of the mandible and insertion of the temporalis, on the superficial (very frequently on the deep) surface of the lateral pterygoid muscle; it then passes between the two heads of origin of this muscle and enters the fossa.
Branches include:

• ・ Masseteric artery （ 咬筋動脈 ）
• ・ Pterygoid branches （ 翼突筋枝 ）
• ・ Deep temporal arteries (anterior and posterior) （ 深側頭動脈 ）
• ・ Buccal artery （ 頬動脈 ）

■ Third portion ■
The third or pterygomaxillary portion lies in the pterygopalatine fossa in relation with the pterygopalatine ganglion. This is considered the terminal branch of the maxillary artery.
Branches include :

• ・ Sphenopalatine artery ( Nasopalatine artery is the terminal branch of the Maxillary artery ) （ 翼口蓋動脈 ）
• ・ Descending palatine artery ( Greater palatine artery and lesser palatine artery ) （ 下行口蓋動脈 ）
• ・ Infraorbital artery （ 眼窩下動脈 ）
• ・ Posterior superior alveolar artery （ 後上歯槽動脈 ）
• ・ Artery of pterygoid canal （ 翼突管動脈 ）
• ・ Pharyngeal artery （ 咽頭動脈 ）
• ・ Middle superior alveolar artery (a branch of the infraorbital artery) （ 中上歯槽動脈？）
• ・ Anterior superior alveolar arteries (a branch of the infraorbital artery) （ 前上歯槽動脈 ）」
