下腹壁動脈 とは
「 どのあたりまで上行するのだろうか？」
下腹壁動脈がどのあたりまで上行するかに言及している資料はあまり見当たらないが、インターネットで画像検索をしてみると、臍（第4腰椎の高さ）よりも上部に分布しているイラストを掲載しているサイトもけっこう見受けられる。
・「 ikipedia 」には「 anastomose with the lower intercostal arteries 」という解説文が見られる。
「 日本人体解剖学 」「 船戸和弥のHP 」には全く言及は見られないが、インターネットで画像検索をすると、上行する下腹壁動脈の本幹を 浅枝 (superficial inferior epigastric artery) と 深枝 (deep inferior epigastric artery) に分けて描いているイラストを掲載しているサイトもいくつか見られる。

外腸骨動脈は次の2つの枝を出す。
以下は主に「 船戸和弥のHP 」を参考にしたものとなる。
1 . 鼡径靭帯のすぐ上方で（または直下で）、外腸骨動脈より分岐する。
（おそらく、分岐後すぐに恥骨枝や精巣挙筋動脈/子宮円索動脈を分岐するものと思われる。）
2 . 壁側腹膜におおわれながら深鼡径輪の内側に沿って上行し、前腹壁に入る。
3 . 横筋筋膜を貫き、弓状線の前を通って腹直筋と腹直筋鞘後葉との間を上行する。
4 . 腹直筋中で上腹壁動脈と吻合して終わる。

「 In human anatomy, inferior epigastric artery refers to the artery that arises from the external iliac artery and anastomoses with the superior epigastric artery. Along its course, it is accompanied by a similarly named vein, the inferior epigastric vein. These epigastric vessels form the lateral border of Hesselbach's triangle, which outlines the area through which direct inguinal hernias protrude.

It arises from the external iliac artery, immediately above the inguinal ligament.
It curves forward in the subperitoneal tissue, and then ascends obliquely along the medial margin of the ; continuing its course upward, it pierces the transversalis fascia, and, passing in front of the linea semicircularis, ascends between the Rectus abdominis and the posterior lamella of its sheath.
It finally divides into numerous branches, which anastomose, above the umbilicus, with the superior epigastric branch of the internal thoracic artery and with the lower intercostal arteries.
As the inferior epigastric artery passes obliquely upward from its origin it lies along the lower and medial margins of the abdominal inguinal ring, and behind the commencement of the spermatic cord.
The vas deferens, as it leaves the spermatic cord in the male, and the of the uterus in the female, winds around the lateral and posterior aspects of the artery.」
