　「船戸和也のHP」 には以下のような解説文が見られる。

　　「上腕を垂れ下げた状態では、烏口腕筋は腋窩に隠れている。この筋は上腕の神経血管幹を誘導する

　　　筋として働いている。」

 

　「日本人体解剖学」では「異常」ということで以下のような解説文が見られる。

　「筋皮神経に貫通されないことがある。長・短頭が独立することがある。この際、長烏口腕筋 は烏口突起か

　　ら起こり、内側上腕筋間中隔に停止する。 短烏口腕筋 は烏口突起から起こり、肩関節包、上腕骨の上部

　　およびその近くに停止する。」

 

　また、「Rauber-Kopsch解剖学」 には以下のような解説が見られる。

　「　変異 ： 2個あるいは3個の烏口腕筋が存在することがある．M. coracobrachialis brevis (短烏口腕筋) は烏口

　　　突起の基部にはじまって，肩関節包や上腕骨などで上腕の近位部に属するいろいろな個所に停止している．

　　　M. coracobrachialis longus (長烏口腕筋) は尺側上腕筋間中隔に停止し，尺側上腕二頭筋溝のなかにある諸

　Coracobrachialis muscle is the smallest of the three muscles that attach to the coracoid process of the scapula. (The other two muscles are pectoralis minor and the short head of the biceps brachii.) It is situated at the upper and medial part of the arm.

　Coracobrachialis muscle arises from the apex of the coracoid process, in common with the short head of the biceps brachii, and from the intermuscular septum between the two muscles.
　It is inserted by means of a flat tendon into an impression at the middle of the medial surface and border of the body of the humerus (shaft of the humerus) between the origins of the triceps brachii and brachialis.
【 Innervation 】
　Coracobrachialis muscle is perforated by and innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve, which arises from the anterior division of the upper trunk (C5, C6) and middle trunk (C7) of the brachial plexus.[

　The action of the coracobrachialis is to flex and adduct the arm at the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint). Also, the coracobrachialis resists deviation of the arm from the frontal plane during abduction.[ Therefore, the contraction of the coracobrachialis leads to two distinct movements at the shoulder joint. It both draws the humerus forward, causing flexion of the arm, and draws the humerus toward the torso, causing adduction of the arm. To a smaller extent, it also turns the humerus inwards, causing internal rotation. Another important function of the coracobrachialis is the stabilization of the humeral head within the shoulder joint, especially when the arm is hanging freely at a person's side.
