「横突起の横突孔より前部と後部はともにその末端はやや肥厚して前結節(肋骨に相当する)および後結節（本来の横突起に相当する）をつくる。」
また、「船戸和弥のホームページ」では以下のように解説している。
「第二～七頚椎横突起の根もとが横突孔により前・後の２部分に分かたれた形となっている。そのうち横突孔よりも後方の部分が後結節で本来の横突起である。 」
そして、以下が「Wikipedia」の「cervical vertebrae」の「transverse process」の解説の一部になる。
