虫垂動脈 とは
虫 垂 ( vermiform appendix ) ： 盲腸 ( cecum ) の内側下壁から出ている円柱状の器官。平均的な長さは約6.5㎝、太さは約0.5～1㎝。
「 船戸和弥のホームページ 」では以下のように解説している。
「 回結腸動脈の虫垂動脈はまず回腸の後方、ついで虫垂間膜の自由縁のなかを走る。変異が多く、しばしば重複する。」

「 The appendicular artery ( appendiceal artery ) commonly arises from terminal branch of the ileocolic artery less commonly from the posterior cecal artery or an ileal artery.[1][2] It descends behind the termination of the ileum and enters the mesoappendix of the vermiform appendix. It runs near the free margin of the mesoappendix and ends in branches which supply the appendix. 」
